Bookmark Lock for X (Twitter)
Bookmark Lock for X is a browser extension that blurs and PIN-locks the Bookmarks tab on x.com and twitter.com. This section explains, plainly, what the extension does and does not do with your data.
What the extension stores
When you set a PIN, the extension creates a SHA-256 hash of that PIN combined with a random value (a salt) generated on your device at install time. Only this hash and salt are stored, using Chrome's built-in storage on your own device. Your actual PIN is never stored anywhere, in any form.

- Whether you are using the free trial or have an active Pro license
None of this data leaves your device, and none of it is visible to us or to anyone else.
What the extension sends over the network
If you purchase the Pro version, the extension periodically sends your license key to our payment provider's API to confirm the license is still valid. This check happens automatically about once a day. No personal information, browsing data, bookmarks, or PIN data is included in that request, only the license key itself.
The extension does not otherwise make any network requests, and does not communicate with any server we operate.
What the extension does not do
- It does not read, store, or transmit the content of your bookmarks or any other page content
- It does not track which pages you visit or build any browsing history
- It does not collect analytics, usage statistics, or behavioral data
- It does not sell, share, or transfer any data to third parties
- It does not use any data for advertising, credit, or lending purposes
Permissions
The extension requests browser permissions only to do the things described above: storing your settings locally, detecting when you are on x.com or twitter.com, reloading the relevant tab after a setting changes, and running a periodic license check. None of these permissions are used to collect or transmit personal data.
